Being Assertive Means:

  • Standing up straight
  • Looking directly at the person or group who is pressuring you
  • Speaking in a firm voice
  • Saying it quickly and being polite
  • Choosing words well (Instead of a wimpy I can't, say I don't want to.)

Added bonus: Return the challenge. Maybe say, I thought you were my friend, or I don't want to drink and if you're my friend you won't ask me to.
